Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera in Ibiza and officially, Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, is a district in the centre of the island of Ibiza, part of the municipality of Santa Eulalia del Río. In 2019 it had 6,207 inhabitants throughout its territory but in its core only 3,141 inhabitants.
Situated at the geographic heart of the island, the village of Santa Gertrudis encapsulates Ibiza within its microcosm. Rooted in tradition, the main square is dominated by the whitewashed fortress church, accentuated by its distinctive yellow tower. Surrounding this focal point are a cluster of bars, restaurants, and shops. Meanwhile, the fertile agricultural landscape enveloping the village is home to fruit orchards, sheep, goats, and the island's solitary dairy cows.
In recent years, Santa Gertrudis has experienced careful and rapid expansion. Modern villas grace the newly laid streets, and the village square has transformed into a pedestrian-friendly plaza. Here, trendy café bars and restaurants seamlessly coexist with traditional Ibicenco establishments, creating a harmonious blend of old and new.
