San Miguel

San Miguel de Balansat, in Catalan and officially Sant Miquel de Balansat, is a town in the Ibizan municipality of San Juan de Labritja, located in the northeast of the island. It is the most populous parish in the municipality, with 1,809 inhabitants, called miquelers/miqueleres.

Perched prominently, the village of San Miguel (Sant Miquel in Catalan) presides over the landscape, showcasing its fortress church—a construction spanning the 14th to 18th centuries. From this elevated vantage point, the village exerts its influence, commanding the surroundings all the way to the coastal haven of Puerto de San Miguel. This area, once a bustling fishing port for San Miguel, has transformed into a beloved small resort.
